How do I get an article that I need?

From Within a Library Database

If you are already in a library database and located an article record, look for options that say Download PDF or Linked Full Text to access the full text of the article.

From the Library Homepage

Two main options are available:

  • Search for the article title in AOK OneSearch (the search box on the library’s homepage). Do not copy and paste the full citation. Sign in to OneSearch to ensure that you see all search results and can fully view detailed record pages. Click on the article’s title and look for options that say Download PDF or Read Article.
  • Click Search & Find on the library’s homepage, then select Journal Search. Search the title of the journal/publication (not the article title). Verify the journal title, then click Available Online to view full-text availability options. From there, you can click on the journal title and search within the publication for your article.

From Google Scholar

To have your results in Google Scholar show links to articles available through the UMBC Library, follow these steps.

  1. Select Settings and click on Library Links
  2. Search for University of Maryland, Baltimore County Find it @ UMBC and check the box next to it
  3. Click Save

From Interlibrary Loan

Some articles are not included in the Library’s subscriptions and cannot be immediately accessed online. For these articles, feel free to submit a request via Iliad/Interlibrary Loan to have the article scanned from another institution and sent via PDF.
