Does the library have textbooks?

UMBC Library Textbook Availability

Per its collection development policy, the UMBC library does not regularly purchase textbooks, particularly books from large commercial publishers like Cengage like Pearson.

The library does purchase a range of scholarly books that may be used as course textbooks or readings. You can search by title and/or author in AOK OneSearch to see if we have the material you need.

Request Books from USMAI Libraries

Because UMBC is part of the University of Maryland System and Affiliated Institutions (USMAI), AOK OneSearch will include holdings at other USMAI libraries. If another campus owns a book and has made the item available for USMAI users to borrow, you can request it by completing a “Request from USMAI." You must be logged into AOK OneSearch to see this option.

Course Reserves

Professors may choose to set up course reserves that will allow students to either access links to digital materials within their Blackboard courses, or will set aside required physical books and texts that can be checked out at the library front desk for short term loan periods. You can check in your Blackboard course or ask your professor if they have set up course reserves for your class.
