How do I access the New York Times, Washington Post, or other current newspaper?
Though UMBC does not provide institutional access to any newspaper websites, the library does subscribe to several databases that include current issues of many national newspapers, including the New York Times, Washington Post, and Wall Street Journal. Access to individual newspapers is available through the News Sources guide.
Major news databases include:
NewsBank - consists of 11,000+ local, regional, national and international sources (6,800+ US and almost 4,200 international sources). Updated daily, it includes content from newspapers, newswires, transcripts, video clips, and more.
Proquest National Newspapers - includes the full text of the Baltimore Sun (1990 - present), Christian Science Monitor (1980 - present), New York Times (1980 - present), New York Times Español, (2020 - present), Wall Street Journal (1984 - present), and Washington Post (1987 - present). Does not include pictures, graphics, or online-only content.
To access historical news sources, see the Primary Source Collections guide.
Off-campus access to UMBC databases and other electronic subscriptions requires users to authenticate using the myUMBC single sign-on (SSO).
